A bank error in your favor has placed $1.2 billion in your checking account. Detail the next 24 hours.

Honestly, I would run with the money, and here’s how I’d do it.

In the first hour, I’ll be disoriented due to overwhelming emotions. The kind you get once you realize that you’ve hit the jackpot. I will let the emotions flow through jumping, listening to loud music, and physically tire myself from hysteria.

Once I calm down, I’ll confirm whether the $1.2 billion is still there. Then jump right into Tor. In case you live under a rock, Tor is a browser that lets you access the internet without exposing your IP address, which can quickly reveal your physical location.

The Research

Eventually, the bank is going to realize their mistake, and they’ll want their money back. The first thing I’ll research is how long I have before they can reverse the $1.2 billion.

My uneducated guess would be less than five hours considering that this is a mind boggling sum.

Therefore, in the next half an hour, I’ll research the best finance lawyer in Canada. During the same period, I’ll have converted all that money into cryptocurrency.

The sum will be spread over different digital currencies like Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin.

The first purchase will be NordVPN software, which will be installed on the computer and smartphone. This application also helps to hide my online activities.

My next steps will be to:

A few articles I’ve read in the past suggested that China and Russia seem like the best place to go and hide.

Why Would I Hide?

$1.2 billion is a lot of money and deciding to run away with such a sum is almost a death sentence. However, I would want to hide just to buy more time.

During the flight to Moscow or Guangzhou, I will be doing more research. My main concern at this point is what asset I can purchase that will double the $1.2 billion, so I can return the initial amount and keep the profits.

Needless to say, I’ll be spending more of the research time on Quora, going through questions like how to make a billion dollars in a week.

At this moment, maybe the five hours have elapsed, and the first email I get is a ransom note. I would assume that the bank will try to solve the problem internally and quietly in the first six hours after discovery.

This is where my expensive lawyer comes in. As one of the top finance attorneys in Canada and the world, I’ll instruct them to keep my family members safe through legal means. The lawyer will also negotiate on my behalf.

I would demand that the bank loan me the money for a few more months, and if I’ve not paid back the initial sum during that period, I will return the funds and pay off any amount I spent.

24 Hours and Counting

As the world’s first overnight billionaire, my work will be cut out for me. My main goal would be to double the $1.2 billion within one year, and whether I succeed or fail, I’ll accept any legal ramifications.

My best bet would be to invest heavily into an online business, and considering the timeline, only a Silk Road alternative would rake in that much money in 12 months.

However, that is another kind of criminality that I don’t have the stomach for, which means I’ll stick to legal ways of doubling a billion dollars within months.

That is honestly what I would do rather than call customer care and ending up only receiving pat on the back for my integrity. Even though returning the money right away is a good deed, I am sure that depression would consume me later because I would be wondering, what if I had handled it differently.
