President Obama gained popularity on the world’s stage when in 2008, he became the first African American president of the USA. Everyone in all corners of the world, including his enemies, chanted his campaign slogan, “Yes, we can.” The president is an interesting down to earth person who has lived a life that many only dream about.

Some may agree that he has lived the American dream. When a spotlight is shown on his extraordinary life of ups and downs, one thing is clear. President Barack Obama is an intelligent, hardworking, and unwearying human being. His life in itself continues to be an inspiration to billions of people.

Tracing the President’s Roots

It’s important to note that there was a prominent Kenyan politician named Tom Mboya. Tom started a scholarship fund called Africa Student Airlifts Program, which sponsored, in this case, Kenyans to study abroad. Tom Mboya had partnered with William Scheinman, an American entrepreneur with full support from the then-president John F. Kennedy. At some point, Harry Belafonte, the iconic musician, helped to fundraise the program.

Obama senior, the president’s father, is one of the bright fellows who won a scholarship to study in the US. Professor Wangari Mathai is another scholar from the program, and she became the first African woman to win a Nobel…
